من إشكالات الترجمة الدينية: نظراتٌ في ترجمة معاني القرآن الكريم

لطالما توجهت العقول والقلوب إلى مَعين كلام ربها في كتابه الكريم، تستقي منه الهداية والرشاد، غير أن من لا يحسنون العربية من المسلمين قد لا يدركون كل المعاني المتضمنة في الآيات الكريمة؛ بسبب اقتصارهم على قراءة ترجمة معاني القرآن بلسانهم. وهذا الكتاب يتناول بعض إشكالات ترجمة النص الحكيم إلى اللغة الإنجليزية، فيبدأ المؤلف بتعريف النصوص الدينية، وبيان طبيعتها الخاصة، ثم يستعرض موجزًا لتاريخ ترجمات القرآن، ويقرر عددًا من القواعد الأساسية التي تعصم المترجم عند الإقبال على ترجمة النص الحكيم أو النصوص الدينية المرتبطة به. ومن ثمَّ يأخذنا المؤلف في رحلة يطوف بها على أنواع من إشكالات الترجمة، تشمل مشكلات فهم دلالات الألفاظ أو الإحالات في الجمل، أو أيديولوجية المترجم وتوجهه العقدي، أو ترجمة ألفاظ قرآنية فريدة، أو تشعبات القصص القرآني، أو جوانب البلاغة العربية، ويختم ذلك بنصائحَ وتوجيهاتٍ لدارس الترجمة الدينية الإسلامية بأسلوب سلس ميسر.

Minds and hearts have always turned to the eternal source of guidance in the Holy Qur'an. However, Muslims who are not well-versed in Arabic may not understand all the shades of the meanings contained in the noble verses because of their recourse to the translation of the meanings of the Qur’an in other languages. This book deals with some of the problems of translating Quranic selections into English. The author begins by defining religious texts and explaining their unique nature. Then he reviews a brief history of the translations of the Qur’an and suggests a number of fundamental rules that can guide the translator when translating the Qur'an or other related Islamic texts. The author then embarks on a journey to review the different types of translation problems including lexical semantics, syntactic coreference, the translator's ideology and doctrinal orientation, unique Quranic expressions, the interpretations of Quranic stories, or aspects of Arabic rhetoric. The Journey ends with advice and practical tips for novice translators and students of Islamic and religious translation.
